POSITION TITLE: PHYSICAL THERAPIST - ITINERANT (115 Day Calendar)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Current knowledge and use of Physical Therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and
evidence-based practice to guide intervention decisions. Knowledge of the federal, state, and local
legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide Physical Therapy
practice in school settings. Ability to gather and assess outcome program evaluation data and
utilize this data to improve services at the programmatic level. Ability to maintain current reporting,
documentation, scheduling, and billing in accordance with professional standards, state and local
guidelines, and reimbursement requirements. Ability to determine the need for a physical therapy
evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the student.
Ability to interpret evaluation data and write comprehensive reports that reflect strengths and
barriers to student participation. Ability to participate collaboratively with multidisciplinary
educational teams to develop Individualized Education Plans with appropriate physical therapy
goals to meet student needs based on evaluative information. Ability to adapt and modify
environments, equipment, and materials. Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct continuing
education for education professionals, parents, and students. Ability to use professional literature,
evidence-based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisions. Ability to
provide legal and ethical supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants. Skill in effective oral and
written communication, interpersonal relations, and effective time management.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Abides by the mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Monitors student
progress accurately and frequently, and enter student progress in GOIEP progress reports in a timely
manner. Enters all required therapy documentation and data in the online billing platform in a
timely manner. Completes appropriate student evaluations in a timely manner. Provides
consultation to other staff members concerning the unique needs of students with disabilities.
Follows all procedural safeguards and documents adherence in an acceptable manner. All other
duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND TRAINING:

Successful completion and graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy professional program
and completion of all fieldwork requirements. Current licensure is issued by the Georgia State Board
of Physical Therapy.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years of successful experience as a Physical Therapist, preferably in a school
system or other pediatric practice setting.
