Join our dynamic team of 14 Occupational Therapists who provide direct and consultative OT services to students in 13 partner school districts. Current opening is serving students right outside of beautiful and fun Athens Georgia.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in occupational therapy required. Master’s degree or higher preferred.

 

License/Certification

Valid GA license in Occupational Therapy required.

 

Skills

  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the use of technology as applicable to job responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate initiative and assume responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to perform with little or no direct supervision.

 

Work Experience

One year of professional-level experience providing occupational therapy to children with special needs is desired. Experience in an educational/school environment is preferred.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

 

In the educational setting, the occupational therapist is considered a related service provider who evaluates and/or provides services to students who have or are suspected of having a disability as defined under IDEA or Section 504.  The occupational therapist is responsible for assessment/evaluation, planning, goal development, documentation, and intervention designed to increase student’s ability to benefit from special education and maximize their ability to participate in the general curriculum.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

 

  • Evaluate student and or/ reviews student’s medical records, physical condition, assessment and evaluation data to

 determine the need for physical therapy as a related service to special education or for 504 accommodation plans.

  • Develop a program of motor intervention to address specific deficits or to make accommodations, as related to

special education services or 504 plans.

  • Participate as a member of the IEP/504 team for students to develop appropriate annual goals, short-term

objectives or benchmarks and measures of progress for each goal.

  • Provide consultation, training and monitoring for school staff in delivery of occupational therapy services as

indicated on the student’s IEP or 504 plans.

  • Provide written and verbal communication to members of the IEP or 504 team regarding issues related to

occupational therapy for individual students as needed.

  • Recommend and provide environmental or equipment adaptations and trains staff and students in assistive

technology appropriate to meet student IEP goals or 504 accommodation plans.

  • Establish and maintain necessary records.

  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Assist in procuring and maintaining devices and equipment identified by IEP or 504 teams.

  • Modify and design adaptive equipment and materials to enhance students’ ability to access learning and

technology

  • Travels to meet job requirements.

  • Maintain excellence in professionalism, communication, customer service, and leadership with colleagues as well

as the public.

  • Model a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and material; adhere to the chain of command.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, feel, and/or reach.  The ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word in person as well as conversing by telephone is required. Sitting and working on a personal computer for long periods of time are occasionally required. The employee is also occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
